Description
Nettle is a dioecious perennial herbaceous plant native to Europe, Asia and North Africa. It is the best known and most widespread species of the genus Urtica. It has hairs with stinging properties. In fact, when they break, they release a fluid that causes burning and itching.
However, nettle, as well as its stinging action, is known to many for being a very tasty edible plant, for example in association with risotto, or for the preparation of omelettes. It also has a long tradition as a plant for erotic use, for example used as an herbal tea.
By purchasing from us you have the guarantee of raw materials deriving from plants grown in a healthy and natural way, without the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical fertilizers. The nettle is grown here in Fermo (Italy, Marche region), in the open countryside, away from polluted areas such as landfills, urban centers, industrial areas, state roads, or highways.
The nettle reaches the balsamic time, in which the active ingredients are more concentrated and powerful, in March-April , and it is in this period that we harvest the plant. It is then taken to dry in special ventilation and temperature controlled tunnels. The temperature never exceeds 43°, so as not to damage the precious active ingredients.
Finally the nettle is shredded and dried. Our Nettle herbal tea is ready to be enjoyed alone, or in combination with other herbs from our collection.
Usage tips
Infusion: a teaspoon of dried nettle for a cup of water (about 250 ml). The nettle is left to rest in boiling water for 10 minutes and then filtered and drunk hot or warm.
