Description
The common fig (Ficus carica L.) is a fruit tree of temperate subtropical climates belonging to the Moraceae family. The plant is widespread throughout the Mediterranean basin.
While it is generally grown to harvest its fruits, we at Erbe di Mauro know how precious the leaves of this plant are too.
We grow various fig trees here on our land in Fermo, in the open countryside and using only natural fertilization techniques. In our philosophy the use of pesticides and herbicides is prohibited and this applies to all the plants we grow, including the fig tree, in total respect for the nature that surrounds us and for the customers who buy and use our products.
The leaves are harvested in spring, between May and June, before the fruits arrive. The leaves are then dried at low temperatures (below 43°), in order to keep the organoleptic properties of the plant altered.
