Description

Milk thistle (Silybum marianum), is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. It grows spontaneously throughout the Mediterranean maquis, i.e. the characteristic vegetation of all those lands bordering the Mediterranean Sea. The seeds of the plant are collected.

Milk thistle seeds are harvested from plants of our own cultivation, grown in a 100% natural way on our land in Fermo, in the open countryside. I want to emphasize that we do not use any chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. Our philosophy is to cultivate everything naturally, with the utmost respect for the environment and people.

The collection of the seeds takes place between July and August and is done by hand, by shaking the dried flower heads.

The drying of the milk thistle seeds is done at low temperatures, using special tunnens with controlled temperatures and ventilation. In order to keep the precious organoleptic properties of the Milk Thistle unaltered, the temperature never exceeds 43°.
